Sisterhood Showcase ready to roll
Each year at the Sisterhood Showcase, Grace Magazine publisher Tina Birchett gets a fresh opportunity to experience what it’s like to be “embraced and uplifted by the community” she is committed to help empower.

The 14th Annual Sisterhood Outreach Summit and Showcase runs June 6-7 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center. It is dedicated to presenting products, information, food, services, and entertainment relevant to African Americans.

“We make sure there is something for everyone,” says Birchett.

The entertainment lineup includes R & B sensations Ginuwine and Avant, gospel recording artists CeCe Winans, Dorinda Clark-Cole and Jonathan Nelson, veteran blues singer J. Blackfoot, and comedian/actor Bill Bellamy of TV One’s “Who Got Jokes?”

This year’s authors include health and fitness guru Dr. Ian Smith from Los Angeles and San Diego’s Chef Kevin Roberts. Introducing their first cookbook – “Down Home with the Neelys” – and featured on the Celebrity Chef Cooking Stage will be Patrick and Gina Neely. Best selling fiction author Laura Parker Castoro will also be on hand to discuss her books.

Showcase-goers are invited to join Bishop Edward H. Stephens Jr. and Golden Gate Cathedral for worship service on Sunday morning.

The Sisterhood Showcase hours are from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th. Tickets are available at Schnucks grocery stores or online at www.Sisterhood Showcase.com. Advanced tickets are $10; $15 on the day of the event or at the door. Information about vending opportunities also is available at the Web site.

The event is sponsored by Volunteer State Health Plan, Sam’s Town, Nationwide Insurance, Comcast, TV One, CW 30, and V101.
