Terreon Brown (36) and the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences Middle School Lions rode a powerful running game into the state championship game but fell to Paris Inman Middle School for the second straight year.

As fate would have it, the MAHS played the same team that beat them the first time with hopes of different results.
The mighty Lions were riding into the game with a powerful running game that led to a 10-1 season. Their opponent, Paris Inman Middle School from Paris, Tenn., was coming into the game as the defending Champions of 2008 and fresh off of a close 6-0 win to reach the game.
But this Halloween offered more tricks than treats for our local champs. They fell behind early off a first-quarter fumble, and although their defense played with the heart of a lion, the Memphis City Champions fell for the second consecutive time to Paris Inman, 16-0.
At the conclusion of this game that had hits worthy of a heavyweight bout, Paris chose number Posley Jones and Shelton Like of MAHS as the game’s defensive and offensive players of the game, respectively.
