Harold Ford Jr. is being encouraged by a group of influential New York Democrats to run for U.S. Senate in New York, the New York Times reported on Wednesday.

Harold Ford Jr. is being encouraged by a group of influential New York Democrats to run for U.S. Senate in New York, the New York Times reported on Wednesday.
The former Memphis Ninth District congressman, who made an unsuccessful bid for a Senate seat in Tennessee, is considering a bid to unseat Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand in the fall Democratic primary, the newspaper said.
Ford, 39, moved to New York three years ago, and he has an extensive network of relationships with Democratic fundraisers there.
He reportedly will make a decision about whether to run in the next 45 days.
