Jean’s Yéle Haiti Foundation Haiti foundation has come under fire for alleged misuse of funds and failure to file

“Have I made mistakes? Yes...Did I ever use Yele money for personal benefits? Absolutely not,” he said at an emotion-heavy press conference.

“I do not cry for myself. I cry for them,” he said of the Haitian people.

Jean, who long has been a roving ambassador for Haiti, vowed to be back on the ground in Haiti by Saturday (Jan. 23).

“We need to migrate at least 2 million people in different parts outside of Port-au-Prince,” Jean said. “We need to have an exodus. And I give you my word. If I tell them to go, they will go. But they need somewhere to go to.”

Jean implored people to continue to help with things such as tents, and said beyond that it is time to start thinking about new communities for the 21st Century.
