Author and public speaker Don Hutson will deliver the keynote address at the 24th Annual BENNY Awards Dinner & Gala on Feb. 20. The event is being held at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis and is sponsored by the Black Business Association of Memphis.

“Don Hutson is an inspirational speaker and an efficient teacher. What he does is provide the words that inspire and equip you with skills that make you successful in what you do,” said Roby Williams, president of Black Business Association of Memphis.
“He has been doing this for years and I’ve heard him many times. I am absolutely delighted to have him to speak at this year’s BENNY Awards.”
Hutson’s resume will tell you that he is a sales trainer and motivator in the business of making people believe that they can be better at what they do by providing them the skill sets to achieve it. He is a member of the International Speakers Hall of Fame and has served as the past president of the National Speakers Association. He also co-authored the best selling book, “The One Minute Entrepreneur” with Dr. Ken Blanchard.
“I’m convinced the greatest thing we can HOPE for in the future is the courage to put forth our own initiative to learn more, become more, and achieve more” Hutson told the Tri-State Defender.
“There are avenues and approaches that we can pursue that can make our tomorrows better than our yesterdays. The key is to develop a prosperity consciousness, and believe that we can do it. Once that hurdle is conquered the sky is the limit!”
Hutson is also C.E.O. of U.S. Learning, a training firm he founded in 1970. U.S. Learning delivers high impact solutions to their corporate clients, helping many of them to develop their own their own “University.”
“My inspiration to start my own company was based on my belief that I had identified a need in the marketplace, and I was convinced that I had a solution that I could sell,” said Hutson. “When you see a window of opportunity that you think was made for you, jump through it!”

The BENNY Awards are held annually. They are designed to honor service and retail businesses, corporations and business professionals who have “reached new heights, provided exemplary service, business opportunities, or leadership to further the vision of minority entrepreneurship, empowerment, business development or community service.”
