Dr. Sybil C. Mitchell

Dr. Sybil C. Mitchell is a native Memphian who was ordained as an elder in non-denominational ministry in 1994. She graduated from Hamilton High School and went on to Vanderbilt University in Nashville to earn the school’s first bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing in only three years.

Dr. Mitchell continued her education at the Marquette University Graduate School of Journalism and has worked as a writer and editor of several news and magazine publications.

She earned a masters and doctorate in Religious Education from United Bible College and Seminary in Orlando, Fla.

Dr. Mitchell has worked as Religion Editor of the Tri-State Defender for more than eight years.
