With the support of the office of Congressman Steve Cohen, Memphis City Schools, The Recording Academy (NARAS), and GospelMusicTelevision, Rev. Kenneth T. Whalum Jr., pastor of The New Olivet Baptist Church, is producing the first-ever official Memphis concert tribute in honor of the national legislative initiative.

The concert will feature live performances from various sub-genres within the Gospel genre.  Former STAX artist Rance Allen will sing accompanied by an all-star chorus composed of Memphis City Schools graduating seniors, and there will be appearances by one or more of the congressional sponsors of the bills. (Ark. Senator Lincoln).

The event will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 at The New Olivet Baptist Church, 3084 Southern Avenue.
